When you reach Accredited status, a panoply of investments opportunities open up to you - namely, the private equity market.

An accredited investor means a wealthy and sophisticated investor or organization as defined by the SEC.
Accredited means someone with a networth of at least $1 million (excluding their primary residence), or annual income of at least $200,000 individually (or $300,000 jointly with their spouse) for the past 2 years.
Self-certification
Investors need to self-certify that they meet accreditation requirements. Fortunately, this is easy in practice by filling out a form and providing it to the GP.
